Does all this talk about going green interest you but you don't know where to start? Don't be shy, read on and get the low down on the green. [...]

Changing to living green is a great way to do your part while in the meantime you will be living healthier and also saving money at the same time. Green living creates a win/win way of life. You never have to compromise your interior decoration design when deciding to go green. There are thousands of designs on the market today that cater to green living. Once you eliminate all of the toxic materials that are already in your bedroom you will be on your way to a healthier and very stylish way of living.

It’s easy to go with a green interior decoration design and after all it does help our environment too. Green also goes a step further by contributing to our own sense of well being. Earth-friendly lifestyles are becoming more and more accepted and understood. This is actually a lifestyle that can be used in our entire home. Here is how you start a green makeover in your bedroom.

Organic flooring can be easily achieved by using an wool carpet, wood, or stone. The floor is important since it is the building block for the whole room. Natural wood is a great choice as long as the floor finish is eco friendly. The wool carpet and stone flooring can be expensive and it might be cheaper to strip down and refinish an existing wood floor. Carpet might be the best option for a child’s room.

The bedding in a green bedroom is also crucial. The mattress should be organic and made from either wool or cotton. Organic bedding is used which is made from materials that are free of toxins. The fabric for this type of bedding is made of either organic cotton or bamboo fabric. While these bedding sets can be a bit pricey, they are available and easy to find at most department stores.

It is time to get rid of the old drapes, curtains, and shades. Replace them with untreated wood blinds or organic fabric shades. Make sure that you include organic fiber when planning your green interior decoration design. Don’t use anything on your windows that has been treated. Doing this not only looks great but it also eliminated dust mites and allergens from your bedroom.

Even your paint must be eco friendly. Every color that you could want to redecorate your bedroom with is available in paint that is green friendly. Traditional paint can interfere with the air quality of your home because it is filled with toxins. This paint can actually be dangerous for as long as five years so always choose paint that has no VOC’s. You can also select a paint that is all natural for the same effect.

Select the lighting for your bedroom based on the style that you like and what will go well with your decor. If your light selection includes a lamp shade then make sure that it is eco friendly and made of organic materials. Never use regular light bulbs but rather use compact fluorescent bulbs. These bulbs are a great way to contribute to green living and still be able to stay within the perimeters of your interior decoration design. They last a lot longer and they cost less to use.

Interior decoration design has a few concepts that should be followed. However, once you understand and embrace those concepts you will be turning rooms into masterpieces!

There are several choices for you to explore that will enable you to have a bathroom that looks fantastic while also helping out the environment. These days, you can easily find eco friendly cabinetry for both bathroom and kitchen.

When planning an eco friendly bathroom design, you should be sure to carefully think about the furniture you will include in the area. This includes items like bathroom cabinetry, along with vanity units, bath panels and shelving. You can make these items more environmentally friendly by selecting those that are created from materials such as sustainable timber, bamboo and wheat board. As a matter of fact, bamboo furniture is a brilliant material to employ in bathrooms since it is quite resistant against humidity and moisture. Other than thinking about the material utilized to create the bathroom furniture, you should also carefully consider the sealants and finishes utilized on the pieces. Preferably, your bathroom furniture should be produced with natural, water-based matter such as plant oil or other components that do not have chemical additives.

When it comes to bathroom designs, getting the appropriate lighting is important. After all, most of us utilize mirrors in our bathrooms to help us get ready, so we’ll need the best lighting possible. By keeping some environmentally friendly bathroom renovation concepts in mind, you can incorporate the ideal lighting while also minimizing your impact on the environment. So when looking for cabinetry for the bathroom, particularly medicine cabinets, choose those that already come with mirrors. Wherever possible, include skylights or solar tubes to your bathroom to enable more light to stream in.

Kitchen professionals will likely tell you that cabinets will most probably consume about half of the kitchen renovation budget, so it’s important for you to go green and select a reputable cabinet manufacturer with roots in environmental sustainability. In addition, search for cabinets produced with recycled components so you can further assist in the conservation of natural resources. Moreover, companies that utilized low-emitting materials like composite wood in their cabinets assist in securing the air quality in your home.

When looking for eco friendly cabinets it is vital to analyze not only the cabinets, but also the procedure that was employed to produce them. Establish whether the manufacturer has an active recycling plan or scheme for waste, or other types of environmental management program. You may also want to think about whether the manufacturer shares the concerns of the community and is playing a role in educating others about environmental practices.

Some items sold as eco friendly carry some sort of certification indicating that they are able to contribute to the conservation of the earth in some way, such as with the particular way they are produced. There are certain programs that particularly target the cabinet industry and awards certification to manufacturers based on fulfillment of certain standards. These standards may involve product resource management, air quality, environmental stewardship, process resource management and community relations. With hundreds of certified cabinetry companies to select from, you now have the opportunity to choose eco friendly cabinetry and bamboo furniture specified to your requirements, regardless of their style, price, wood quality and finish. Just ask your retailer if you have any questions about this type of thing.

When it comes time to look for new window treatments for your home, one of the biggest problems you have might be figuring out what to do with the old ones that you’re taking down. They’re large, they’re bulky, and they’re too faded to sell or even give away. With “no burn” laws in your area, you can’t even get rid of them that way. The only option you have will probably be to stuff them into garbage bags and send them to the landfill, but you hate to do that. You wish you had purchased more eco-friendly window treatments when you got them, but it’s too late for that. All you can do is to make sure that the new window treatments you purchase are greener than the old ones were.

Many window treatment companies are working hard at “going green” by producing products made from recycled materials that can also be recycled again when their years of usefulness are past. These companies are using materials that are eco-friendly and eliminating such substances as PVC and other chemicals from the items they are producing. You can’t tell it by looking at them, either. These eco-friendly window treatments are as stylish and elegant as you could hope for. In fact, many of them are downright beautiful, and you’ll be proud having them in your house.

You will find these new, eco-friendly window coverings made in a variety of different styles. Window blinds are made of wood, faux wood, woven wood, and a variety of recyclable fabrics. You might consider adding solar panels to your rooms. Not only are these shades made of eco-friendly materials, but they also block harmful UV rays, help maintain the temperature in your home, and control glare. Blackout shades are also energy savers that will help keep down your cooling bills in the summer.

If you’d like a look that will fit in with either formal or casual decor and still be eco-friendly, you should check out bamboo shades. Bamboo is an ideal material, because bamboo trees regenerate within just a few years and do not require replanting. In addition, bamboo is an extremely durable material and can be used to create window treatments that are texture-rich and a delight to look at.

Finding healthy green choices both in our lifestyle and purchasing decisions don't always come easy. The eco-friendly culture that is starting to take shape in our world though is helping to guide people into positive choices. One of those choices is in the way of bamboo. In this article we'll explore the uses of bamboo in beds, furniture, flooring and more and how it can help benefit our planet's ecology. [...]

A new generation of shoppers are beginning to approach furniture shopping with an entirely new approach. Green friendly products are becoming an important offering in the world of furniture. Manufacturers are also becoming for eco aware in terms of their manufacturing practices and how they recycle the waste at their facilities. So what does this mean for us when we’re shopping for a new bed or other furniture?

Eco-friendly practices are considered any action that has a net positive result for our environment. There are many companies that employ efforts to both manufacturer or retail furniture products that meet positive eco guidelines. These can range from simple things like instituting policies for recycling paper or aluminum in the office. Actions such as reducing waste from production by streamlining manufacturer processing of raw materials to create less waste. Controlling factory emissions and reducing harmful pollutants going into the air by using natural alternatives.

Bamboo has been one such alternative in natural resources that has been gaining popularity. You might ask, well what does bamboo have to offer over woods like oak, maple, ash or any other resource? Let’s examine bamboo a little more closely. Bamboo itself is often confused as being a wood. It is in fact a plant or more specificly a grass. It grows in tall stalks or culms which grow very fast and get very hard. Usually within seven years the stalks of the bamboo plant are ready to be harvested and can then be processed into boards for construction.

Why is a fast growing plant a positive in being eco-friendly? Consider this for a moment. Woods like oak, maple and ash may take anywhere from fifty years or more to grow before they can be harvested. Once harvested, these trees will need to be replenished by planting seedlings which will then require another growth cycle of fifty or more years. Bamboo grows quick and is harvested within seven years. After being harvested it grows back just as quick and in another seven years its ready to be harvested again. You can harvest bamboo plants up to 6 times in the time it takes an oak or maple tree to grow for harvesting. It reduces the eco impact on the planet greatly by harvesting this fast growing plant.

Bamboo in furniture offers many positive things as well. Bamboo beds for example offer a more exotic grain pattern than say an oak or ash bed. This exotic look is unique in appearance and will spice up the look of any bedroom. Bamboo is very strong. Just as strong as hard rock maple and will provide a lot of tensile strength to the furniture or products made from it. Bamboo beds will have this strength incorporated into the bamboo that makes up the frame of the bed which will provide many years of continued use.

Besides furniture and beds made from bamboo, bamboo has been used in flooring as well as other products. Valued for its strength and green culture bamboo offers an excellent alternative to many types of wood used in homes today. You may have just purchased a home or remodeled and found bamboo choices in many cabinets and flooring.

Maybe you’re looking for a healthy eco-friendly alternative to wood products. Perhaps you’re interested in finding furniture that has a green approach to design and materials. Bamboo offers many advantages in the way of its growth cycle and harvesting. Bamboo grows quickly and can be harvested within seven years. Many species of wood take anywhere from fifty years or more before harvesting. Bamboo offers an exotic look in furniture, beds and flooring and will help create a unique appearance for any bedroom. Bamboo has much strength and durability which allows it to be used in everyday applications.

If you are an eco-friendly person or enjoy being more green in your life choices, bamboo is a healthy alternative when it comes to furniture, beds and any number of other uses for this unique plant. I would encourage you to learn more about bamboo and its uses in helping to make our world a greener one.

Green cars, solar panels, bamboo plates and green furniture. The world is going green with almost everything. You can also go green with your drink coasters. Coasters made from degradable materials such as sandstone are as durable, beautiful and useful as the synthetic ones. These materials are recyclable and will not damage the environment. Additionally, they help to make the user feel gratified by the fact that he or she is contributing to the protection of the environment.

You can use them in your kitchen, mini bar, patio or in the garden. Wherever used, they serve the same function as their wood, paper or plastic versions.

Coasters protect your furniture from damage in an environmentally responsible way. You will be able to shield your tables, desk or coffee tables from stains, discoloration and warps. This way you can make them last longer, preserve their shine and maintain their beauty.

Sandstone coasters come in various shapes and sizes. They can have customized logos or have themed graphics. If you have a bar, you can have your slogan or logo neatly printed on the sandstone coasters. You can also have these types of coasters in your restaurant where you have pieces of advertising messages on them. Stull further, you can use these green coasters as giveaways, gifts, or souvenirs for patrons at your eatery. If you had an environmentalist friend, the sandstone coasters will serve as a perfect gift for them.

Choosing eco friendly coasters demonstrates your commitment to the protection of the world’s resources. Using them to protect your furniture will complement conservation efforts.
